Prior to the weekend we received further news from Zimbabwe:
Thanks for your prayers and your encouraging words. There are several arrests of people who fight for human rights and these include Doctors, Lawyers, NGO activists and leaders of these NGOs (Non Governmental Organisations). Actually NGOs have been suspended from operating. Those that provide with food also have been banned. Those who had bulk food it is in the danger of going bad. The situation is just unbearable.
It is amazing how people are coping under these dire circumstances..
We have reached a point where no one is safe. This has come about as a result of the chaos perpetrated by the government.
The practice here is that if you are arrested on a Friday they will not release you until Monday. One has to be in cells over the weekend. The cells are so crowded and unhealthy. We now desperately need Divine intervention to save us from this cruel experience.
I am convinced that after this experience Zimbabweans will never be the same again. I can see a future where our experience will be an asset to other peoples who are in similar situations across the world.
In [South Africa Refugee] camps [there are] vast areas covered with tents which are not the best of habitation. The sanitary facilities were just substandard. Children in other camps had not had school facilities. One camp had reasonable school facilities. People had lost all hope. [People are being told] they should go back to their home countries.
Thanks once again for your messages. |
